Oh no, don’t tell me, it’s much too soon

Is it really football season?

The only time that I might watch is

When the weather’s freezin’

It seems like only yesterday

The Super Bowl was on

But with Deflategate and battered wives

They were never really gone

And what about the BCS?

Or whatever they call it these days

Couldn’t we wait just a little bit longer

‘Til those poor undergrads get a raise?

I wonder if coaches at some of those schools

Have finally decided to play by the rules

They probably took lessons from professional cats

Who better to copy than the New England Pats

Four hours in front of a TV set

Is time quite badly spent

I guess the Church of Football says

It’s one way to repent

The college star picked number one

Was alleged to be a rapist

No worries he’ll be born again

But certainly not a Papist

Forgive them all, abuse and fraud

Their crimes are just a detail

The advertisers wait in line

To sell their products retail

I wonder if fans, all the mothers and fathers

See unethical role models lie and it bothers

Their conscience, their child, Are they not afraid he

Will grow up to be someone just like Tom Brady?
